Job Summary:
Responsible for the delivery of patient care in pre-hospital setting according to the protocols established by the Chairman of EMS and the scope of practice. Participates in quality monitoring checks and reporting daily. Assists with patient care in the Emergency Department and assists in other areas of the hospital as needed.
Principal Duties:
1) Administer first aid treatment or life support care to sick or injured persons in per hospital settings.
2) Observe, record, and report to Physician the patient's condition or injury, the treatment provided, and reactions to drugs or treatment.
3) Immobilize patient for placement on stretcher and ambulance transport, using backboard or other spinal immobilization device.
4) Maintain vehicles and medical and communication equipment and replenish first aid equipment and supplies.
5) Assess nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures.
6) Communicate with dispatchers or treatment center personnel to provide information about situaiton, to arrange reception of victims, or to receive instructions for further treatment.
7) Clean and decontaminate ambulance interior following treatment of patient with infectious disease and report case to proper authorities.
8) Operate equipment, such as electrocardiograms (EKGs), external defibrilators, or bag valve mask resuscitators, in advanced life support environments.
9) Understanding and anticipates potentially life-threatening sequel of non-cardiac emergencies and institutes appropriate emergency therapy where essential for the preservation of life. Deals with medical and emotional needs of any victim of acute illness or injury with the goal of reducing mortality and morbidity.
10) Receiving call from dispatcher, responds verbally to emergency calls, reads maps, and may drive ambulance to
emergency site, uses most expeditious route, and observes traffic ordinances and regulations.
11) Assisting in lifting, carrying, and transporting patient to ambulance and on to a medical facility.
12) Responsible for managing and directing all first responders at the scene of a medical emergency such as QRUs, Police Departments, and EMTs.
13) Complying with regulations in handling deceased, notifies authorities, and arranges for protection of property and evidence at scene. Determines appropriate facility to which patient will be transported, reports nature and extent of injuries or illness to that facility, asks for direction from hospital Physician or Emergency Department.
14) Accountable for operating and maintaining EMS vehicles and equipment properly, to avoid damage or breakage.
15) Consistently adheres to and implements EMS administrative and medical control directives.
16) Willingly completes administrative and clinical functions as assigned by the Charge Paramedic.
Educational & Experience Requirements:
M.Sc. in Paramedicine Sciences - NO minimum experience required
B.Sc. in Paramedicine Sciences - at least 1 year of minimum experience
Other Requirement:
Saudi Commission for Health Specialties Registered (Saudi Council)
