Job Purpose

The Threat Intelligence Section Head is responsible for building security threats evidence-based knowledge and conducting tests in order to inform decisions and improve protection of GAZT IT applications, networks and systems, within the latest testing tools and methods.

Key Accountability Areas  

Budget Management

• 
  
• Discuss section budgeting requirements with Directors and provide input to the budgeting process
• 
  
• Ensure effective utilization of Threat Intelligence Section budget, and report accurately on progress made and challenges encountered
• 
  
• Investigate and propose implementing initiatives that result in positive financial impact for Threat Intelligence Section and mitigates financial and operational risks
• 
  

Process Management

• 
  
• Implement approved Threat Intelligence Section policies, processes, procedures, provide instructions to subordinates, monitor adherence and ensure work is carried out in a controlled manner
• 
  
• Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account leading practices, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement
• 
  
• Support in monitoring day-to-day activities to ensure compliance with stipulated policies and procedures
• 
  

Threat Intelligence

• 
  
• Keep abreast of emerging threats, risks or hazards within IT and stay up to date with the latest testing and ethical hacking methods in order to leverage these trends and inform information security and IT strategies
• 
  
• Explore ways to identify stealthy threats that may have found their way inside the network without detection, using the latest threat intelligence, in order to anticipate potential malicious attacks
• 
  
• Review and finalize threat intelligence approach, plans and security testing methodologies in order to ensure that developed systems are fully tested and can operate in all anticipated environments with required security
• 
  
• Support in information security risk assessment to help determine the level of threats and the resulting security requirements that arise from such threats
• 
  

Information Security Testing

• 
  
• Select and develop appropriate tools for information security testing in order to properly perform required tests to evaluate the effectiveness and adequacy of security safeguards
• 
  
• Oversee vulnerability scans and review assessment reports in order to ensure they are in line with procedures and guidelines and recommend preventive actions
• 
  
• Participate in major penetration tests and oversee required third party penetration tests in order to verify resiliency and identify weak areas that need to be fixed
• 
  
• Manage security reviews on all types of applications (design, source codes…etc.) and analyze reports in order to highlight findings and threat discoveries, and to suggest optimization of security monitoring tools
• 
  
• Suggest and implement improvements of security and testing methodologies, procedures and supporting assets in order to increase protection capabilities
• 
  

People Management

• 
  
• Supervise, guide and assist direct reports to perform their daily activities in accordance with the policies and procedures
• 
  
• Actively participate in on-the-job training, mentoring and coaching of direct reports
• 
  
• Generate commitment, motivation and enthusiasm to team goals and guide team members through periods of change or uncertainly
• 
  
• Provide clear direction, prioritize tasks, assign and delegate responsibility and monitor the workflow
• 
  
• Provide opportunities for team members to suggest, participate in and contribute to improvement, innovation and knowledge sharing initiatives
• 
  
• Ensure the compliance with Threat Intelligence Section policies, processes and systems
