The basic function of this position is to satisfy Requestors/End Users procurement needs by processing purchasing requests: searching the market and obtaining the required products and services, in the needed quantity, for the best value for price (and other conditions), from approved suppliers, at the needed delivery date, and ensure to abide by the Company policies and procedures.
Duties and responsibilities
• Searches the local and international markets for potential suppliers. And acts as an advisor to the Requestors/End users.
• Negotiates with local and international suppliers in order to obtain the best value for prices, to ensure fixed prices over a period of time, to obtain discounts, to exchange or return unaccepted items and to agree on delivery terms and payment conditions.
• Revises and updates products and commodities provided by regular suppliers with respect to quality, price, technical specifications, standardization, and searches the market for new providers.
• Clarifies with Requestors different information provided in the Purchase Requisition (items description, quantity, need by date, delivery location, etc.).
• Updates price lists, files them in alphabetical order on “Quotation on file system”, and states whatever samples are available in the SCD offices.
• Monitors and follows up on the delivery of ordered goods by suppliers, and keeps the requestors informed.
• Maintain market knowledge by visiting suppliers, attending exhibitions and seminars, through various publications and the Internet, etc…
• Responsible in exercising due diligence towards health & safety of self & others in the organization.
• Responsible to comply with the applicable HSE procedures, instructions, requirements, standards received from regulatory and statutory bodies.
• Responsible for reporting to superior occurrences, events, violations and acts that may impact staff health and safety or the environment.
• Performs other duties as per request.
