The responsibilities of the SENIOR LINUX ADMINISTRATOR will primarily include:
1. Administering Linux/Unix server platforms
2. Installing/updating/troubleshooting Linux/Unix server software
3. Monitoring server performance and storage utilization.
4. Verify that peripherals are working properly
5. Monitor system performance
6. Create file systems
7. Install software
8. Create a backup and recovery policy
9. Monitor network communication
10. Update system as soon as new version of OS and application software comes out
11. Implement the policies for the use of the computer system and network
12. Setup security policies for users. Must have a strong grasp of computer security (e.g. firewalls and intrusion detection systems).
13. Preferred bilingual with English/Arabic speaking, reading & writing skills.
14. All needed Linux certifications to run the related application and hardware
covered within the scope of this Contract.
15. The Linux Administrator shall possess a minimum of a Bachelor degree from an accredited institution, and have at least six (6) years of applicable work experience.
16. User administration (setup and maintaining account)
17. Maintaining system
18. Should be able to use comparable software as well as presentation software in the preparation of pie charts, bar charts, and histograms for reports of systems performance and utilization.
19. Proficient in developing system configuration diagrams and systems management presentation graphics for tracking or planning of the distribution of the operating system, cache, applications, or user data files
20. Should able to quickly and correctly diagnose the problem.
21. Must figure out what is wrong and how best it can be fixed in small amount of time
22. Dedicated and hardworking
23. Monitor, identify, and resolve production capacity, contention, and resource deficiencies.
24. Configure and install new hardware — AMD dual-core, Intel quad-core, and Intel Xeon
25. Basic Linux/Unix administration — kickstart/jumpstart server builds, nfs, nis, shell scripting, performance tuning, proactive monitoring, patch management, and Linux workstation end-user support.
26. Implement software and hardware RAID solutions, including Veritas Volume Manager, Solaris Volume Manager, Compaq smart arrays, StorEdge 3510 and Hitachi AMS200 FC storage arrays.
27. Administer Linux/Solaris to Windows connectivity using Samba and Exceed.
28. Support Oracle Database and Oracle ERP Applications system requirements, currently utilizing 2+ Terabytes of disk space.
29. Maintain BCP and grid computing environments.
30. Research, test, and implement new hardware and software.
