•In coordination with the Chief Engineer ensure optimal and safe performance of all vessels by operating and maintaining the engine room in the most effective way, focussed on the electrical aspects.
•In accordance with chief engineer execute the electrical maintenance schedule and spare parts requirements in accordance with plan and electrical specifications.
•Work according the defined policies and procedures of Marine Division.
•Report on work done/ performance, issues and preventive maintenance requirements to chief engineer on a day to day basis and report to electrical superintendent for specific electrical related activities.
•Advise on and ensure the execution of basic and instant electrical repairment onboard. Ensure optimal capacity and minimal downtime according to the electrical design.
•Report to superintendents on the day to day performance of electrical parts of the engine room; escalate if needed to superintendents in order to minimize the downtime.
•Actively monitor if the HSE requirements are observed in the engine room and report on it to the superintendent and inform the chief engineer. Follow up on QHSE reports/ recommendations if needed.
•Record, evaluate and document engine electrical data.
•Responsible for timely ordering of electrical aspects and spare parts.
•Provide leadership and guidance towards department's electricians; act as a specialist if issues cannot be solved onsite.
•Cooperate effieciently and constructively discuss operational issues on a regular basis with the electricians and the chief engineer.
•Coordinate and plan optimal staffing for an effective, efficient and safe functioning of the electrical division.
•Provide superintendent with input and advise on staffing needs of the electrical division following human resource procedures and processes.
•Recommend to the electrical superintendent best development opportunities of electrical division staff.
•Execution of the yearly performance evaluation process for electricians and greasers within the electrical division.
