The Royal Danish Embassy in Saudi Arabia is looking for a full-time Head of Commercial Department to lead our existing Trade Council (TC) team of two trade advisors, one commercial assistant and one trainee. The position is to be filled by a locally recruited employee.
The Commercial Department at the Royal Danish Embassy in Saudi Arabia is part of the Danish Trade Council (TC), which is the Danish Government’s export and investment promotion agency. TC Saudi Arabia assists Danish companies in a variety of activities ranging from developing market analysis and market entry strategies, to first line of sales, executing partner and customer searches, engaging in PR-actives and recruitment and much more.
The department is assisting Danish companies entering or expanding activities in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait and Yemen.
The trade department in Saudi Arabia is part of a regional Trade Council set-up and works closely with the Danish missions in Morocco, United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon and Iran, who strive to provide high value returns to our partner companies. Our motivation is to increase Danish export to the region and build strong relationships with our Danish partner companies. Being based at the Royal Danish Embassy in Riyadh, you will become part of a multicultural team of around 23 employees including the consular, administrative and political sections.
The position
The current advisors are responsible for a variety of sectors such as Food & Agriculture, Furniture & Design, Health Care, Oil & Gas and Aviation. As Head of Commercial Department your role is to manage the current team and be overall responsible for business strategy, business development, pipeline management and not at least developing the trade team to become even stronger.
On a day to day basis you will also:
Be responsible for managing and updating the Trade Council’s pipeline
Work closely with the Commercial Advisors on assignments related to export promotion of Danish companies
Be a key figure in developing stronger government contact (market access and public affairs work)
Be responsible for identifying and establishing business-to-business contacts
Gather, analysing and presenting information about market opportunities
Prepare market/partner reports
Organize events and delegations
Plan and setting up company visits
