My client is an international manufacturing and industrial equipment supplier specialising in flow control and processing technologies.
The Automation Engineer will design, develop and commission software and hardware solutions as per the standards and specifications required by the Customer.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
• Supports the Proposals / Engineering Department in the preparation of quotations.
• Supports the Automation Manager or Project Manager to obtain quotations for hardware. (internal / external?)
• Takes ownership of assigned projects, as allocated by the Automation Manager or Project Manager.
• Defines the scope of the software and electrical / automation hardware solution.
• Designs the software and hardware to be installed and commissioned on site.
• Presents the software and hardware requirements to the Automation Manager or Project Manager.
• Develops and presents the execution plan to the Automation Manager or Project Manager and the Customer.
• Generates the ‘Functional Analysis’ detailing the entire process.
• Plans and develops the ‘Control System’ as per the project specification.
• Develops the software as per the project specification.
• Designs and generates the ‘Human Machine Interface System’.
• Coordinates and takes responsible for the external / internal ‘Factory Acceptance Test’ to ensure the suitability and functionality of the designed software, as per the standards and specification.
• Commissions the software and hardware at the Customers site with the support of the Automation Department.
• Supports and occasionally verifies electrical installation at the Customers site.
• Ensures the Customer is satisfied with the automation solution prior to collecting the ‘Takeover Certificate’ from the Customer.
• Conducts training for the Engineers and Operators of the Customer to ensure they understand the design, functionality and operational techniques of the system.
• Completes service jobs as and when required.
• Updates the Automation Manager or Project Manager on the project status.
• Partakes in improvement projects or other tasks as assigned by Automation Manager or Project Manager.
